Florian Building
Project type: new construction
Typologie: Condominiums
Site: Montréal (Ville-Marie)
Client: Construction GAB
Website: Construction GAB
Year of completion: 2014
Number of units: 3
Located on Florian Street in Ville-Marie, Montreal, this three-unit condominium fills a lot that was left vacant following the removal of electrical distribution equipment. The completion of this block completes the urban structure of the street and reduces the perception of the lane from public land.
Despite its contemporary and streamlined architecture, the building revisits the overall appearance of the neighbourhood by incorporating some of its features—the greatest of which is an emblematic arched staircase. Other features that create balance with the surrounding buildings include the asymmetric design, the materials used and the brick siding.
While a considerable amount of effort was put into the proper integration of the building into the urban fabric, the building boasts strong contemporary features such as a roof deck and spacious interior layouts.
